Australian Gold Processing – Trans IMM C special issue
January 17, 2013Why feasibility studies fail! – A summary
February 19, 2013The Melbourne branch of the AusIMM will be holding a technical session on Tuesday 12th of February where Peter McCarthy will be giving his thoughts on the state of feasibility studies for new projects and generally why they fail. This promises to be a highly informative look at an area of project development that many of us are involved in on a regular basis.
As chairman of AMC Consultants and over 20 years experience as director of various ASX listed mining companies Peter has a wealth of experience in the setup and delivery of feasibility studies. He has a unique perspective of a wide range of projects and has seen all of the mistakes, oversights and optimistic assumptions that lead to studies producing a poor resemblance to the state of the delivered project.
I highly recommend anyone in Melbourne to attend. For those of you around the world the presentation should be available over the next few weeks on the AusIMM site.
For those that wish to attend the technical session will be held at CQ, 113 Queen St Melbourne, with registration at 12 noon for a 12:30pm start on Tuesday, 12th February. The event is free for AusIMM members and $10 for non-members, students who are not members of the AusIMM can attend for $5.
