Zeiss microscopy have recently announced the release of version 1.1 of their Mineralogic Mining software. After releasing Mineralogic Mining in July 2014 Zeiss have been working hard to expand the capabilities and provide a tool that can be targeted at on-site mineralogy as well as the laboratory. MinAssist have been fortunate enough to work on a project over the past 6 months using the Mineralogic Mining software and have been pleased with what it offers.
Mineralogic Mining 1.1 brings a series of under the cover improvements to both speed and data handling, focussing in particular on catering for the ever emerging world of ‘big data’ with a new and open database framework.
- Big data: Mineralogic Mining now supports datasets up to 140 TB (terrabites) in size. This allows projects with large numbers of samples, such as with daily plant monitoring, to be run
- Unique capability: Users can expand their use of the unique Mineralogic capability of collecting and storing not only the digital mineral map, but the original high resolution SEM image (e.g. BSE), the EDS spectra, and the quantified spectra, all within an integrated final dataset.
- Easy access data: the new database is non-proprietary, making it easy to access your data not only through the Mineralogic Mining explorer, but also through exporting to other software packages
- Trend analysis: either directly export data to modelling packages or link quickly and simply to other databases such as LIMS or Historian systems
- Speed: improved memory and data handling allows even faster collection, processing and reporting of Mineralogic data
- Free upgrades: this latest upgrade, as with all incremental releases, is offered free to existing Mineralogic Mining customers
